South Africa: Two confirmed dead following aircraft crash

A pair of elderly gentlemen have both been declared dead on Tuesday, following a light aircraft crash in Plettenberg Bay. The glider went down just a few miles from Bitou Airport (PBZ), colliding with the ground after encountering some terminal difficulties in mid-air.

Plettenberg Bay plane crash – what we know so far:

Emergency crews rushed to the scene once reports of the tragic crash came flooding in. They rescued one of the passengers from the wreckage, but another was pronounced dead at the scene. Despite fighting for his life overnight, the man rushed to hospital sadly succumbed to his critical injuries.

The Bitou Municipality offered their condolences in a statement published on Monday evening. The crash took place just before 18:00, and it hasn’t been fully established what brought the plane down from the sky.
