Egypt: EGX ends Monday on mixed note, market cap. gains LE 2.2B

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday’s session on mixed note, adding LE 2.2 billion to market capitalization, amid Egyptian and Arab purchases.

CAIRO – 27 July 2020: The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.48 percent, or 51.53 points, to close at 10,575.47 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 hiked 0.26 percent, or 3.87 points, to close at 1,519.29 points, and the broader index EGX 100 jumped 0.27 percent, or 6.23 points to 2,325.36 points.

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 0.27 percent, or 4.92 points, to end at 1,790.38 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 2.18 billion, recording LE 582.69 billion, compared to LE 580.49 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 406.57 million shares, traded through 36,365 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.06 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 95.97 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 83.25 million, and LE 12.72 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 99.28 million, and LE 4.87 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 174,222.

Foreign organizations sold at LE 96.15 million, while  Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 182.53 million, and LE 17.6 million, respectively.

South Valley Cement, Sarwa Capital Holding, and Sinai Cement were top gainers of the session at 16.72 percent, 9.47 percent and 9.05 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Oriental Weavers, El Nasr for Manufacturing Agricultural Crops, and Arab Moltaka Investments Co were top losers of the session by 10.65 percent, 9.08 percent, and 5.76 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Sunday in green as: EGX30 rose 0.62 percent, EGX 50 increased 0.89 percent, EGX 70 hiked 1.40 percent, and EGX 100 jumped 1.38 percent.
