Alert: Equatorial Guinea, Covid-19 confirmed cases rise 79

In the last 3 days (from 14 to 17), a total of 58 positive cases have been registered.

From April 15 to 16, 2020, the Baney laboratory has confirmed twenty-eight (28) new positive cases of coronavirus in the city of Malabo.

Among the 28 cases, 27 are of Equatorial Guinean nationality and 1 Cuban.

The confirmed positive case of Cuban nationality is a 58-year-old woman. Thus, the total number of confirmed cases registered in the country since the beginning of the pandemic to date is 79 people, 70 in Bioko Island (Insular Region) and 9 in the Continental Region.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, the 28 new confirmed cases are asymptomatic and do not present any discomfort, all of them are currently in the City of Malabo, and will soon be transferred to the Case Management and Follow-up Unit in Malabo.

“This sudden increase in cases should make us reflect on the need for each citizen to remain at home and actively collaborate with the general prevention measures provided by the Government,” said the Minister.
