President Akufo-Addo extends ban on social gatherings for 2 weeks

The ban was first imposed on March 15 by the President and was due to expire on April 27. At the time, Ghana had recorded six cases of COVID-19.

President Akufo-Addo extends ban on social gatherings for 2 weeks

President Akufo-Addo has extended the ban on the social gatherings by a further two weeks effective Monday, April 27, 2020, at 1 am.

The ban affects all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities and other related events.

The President made this known during his eighth update on measures to control the coronavirus in the country tonight (April 26, 2020).

He said the decision which is backed by science has the consensus of some stakeholders in the country including the Council of State, the Ghana Journalists Association and the National Union of Ghana Students.
