Emirates SkyCargo has announced the launch of AI Tech, a dedicated logistics product designed to meet the growing demand for the safe, efficient and timely transportation of equipment essential to the development and expansion of artificial intelligence (AI).
The service targets the movement of high-value and sensitive technology infrastructure, including AI server racks, semiconductors, graphics processing units (GPUs), capital equipment and other critical hardware required to operate advanced computing systems and data centres.

The launch comes as the global adoption of artificial intelligence accelerates, driving increased investment in computing capacity and digital infrastructure. As technology companies, manufacturers and data centre operators expand their operations, transporting specialised equipment has become increasingly complex, involving high-value cargo, demanding delivery schedules and specific handling requirements.
AI Tech seeks to address these challenges through a dedicated logistics framework combining globally standardised operating procedures, priority loading, enhanced shipment oversight and proactive customer coordination throughout the transportation journey. The service is supported by Emirates SkyCargo’s command centre in Dubai, which will monitor shipment milestones and help ensure that critical deliveries remain aligned with deployment schedules.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, emphasised that the physical infrastructure behind artificial intelligence breakthroughs must reach its destination safely and on time. He explained that AI Tech is designed to give customers greater confidence through operational supervision and proactive communication across the company’s global network.
According to Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo transported more than 700 tonnes of AI infrastructure across its international network in July alone, reflecting the growing demand for specialised logistics services in this sector. He added that the company’s ambition is to become the carrier of choice for businesses operating throughout the AI ecosystem.
Among the key features of AI Tech are dedicated handling procedures designed to maintain equipment orientation and minimise the risk of damage during transportation. The service also provides priority loading and scheduling for time-sensitive shipments, airport-to-airport visibility, milestone updates monitored through the Dubai command centre, and continuous communication with customers.
For oversized and heavy equipment, Emirates SkyCargo will also provide specialist project cargo support, allowing the company to accommodate shipments that require additional operational planning and handling capabilities.
The development of AI Tech builds on the airline’s experience transporting AI-related hardware between major manufacturing centres and important technology markets. The service is available across Emirates SkyCargo’s global network for most AI-related cargo, including semiconductors, chips and server racks.
For highly specialised manufacturing equipment, the company will conduct advance assessments of the capabilities of the relevant stations to ensure that the required handling and operational conditions can be safely accommodated.
Fleet capacity is another important element supporting the initiative. By March 2027, Emirates SkyCargo expects to operate a fleet of 23 dedicated freighters, providing additional main-deck capacity for transporting large and dense equipment, including server racks that can weigh more than 3.5 tonnes.
In addition to its dedicated freighter operations, the airline will continue to utilise cargo capacity aboard its wide-body passenger aircraft, further supporting connectivity across its international network.
The launch of AI Tech highlights how the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is transforming industries beyond software development and computing. The growth of AI depends not only on algorithms and digital platforms, but also on the physical infrastructure, specialised equipment and international supply chains required to make these technologies operational.
As investment in data centres and advanced computing systems continues to increase, reliable transportation has become an essential part of the global AI ecosystem. Delays or damage involving critical components can affect installation schedules and the deployment of major technology projects.
With AI Tech, Emirates SkyCargo is positioning itself to serve this expanding market through a logistics solution built around speed, reliability, shipment visibility and specialised handling. The initiative reflects the growing strategic importance of aviation and logistics in supporting the infrastructure behind the next generation of technological innovation.
