Equatorial Guinea: The Technical Committee for the Improvement of the Business Climate takes up its Roadmap

Since its last meeting in May, when the reforms and updates already adopted were sent to the World Bank, six months after, this sub-body dependent on the Political Committee has met to analyze the fulfillment of those activities that remained in the execution period within the strategy drawn up from the organization of the High-Level Seminar on the Improvement of the Business Climate in 2018.

The Technical Committee for the Improvement of the Business Climate and Competitiveness of the Equatorial Guinea Economy held its fourth annual meeting in the Plenary Chamber of the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Planning with the aim of updating the strategy that was adopted by the Government to improve the business climate in the country and see the degree of fulfillment of the tasks to be carried out by the different General Directorates of the ministries involved and position the country among the fifty best economies in the world.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of State for Justice, Rimmé Bosio Riokaló Vice President of the Committee, assisted by the Counselor to the Presidency of the Government on Budgets and Financial Control, Eusebio Ipico Penda, and the General Director of the Agency National Equatorial Guinea 2020, Bindang Ndong Okiri, as well as the rest of the directors of the departments involved, to discuss the different tasks not executed in the Roadmap in order to update their status; The fulfillment of these tasks contributes to the  improvement of the business climate and gives the business sector of the government’s firm standing in its  intention to place Equatorial Guinea as one of the economies with the greatest ease of doing business. The report sent by the World Bank on the reforms and update that was communicated to it in the month of May was presented, which has positively evaluated all the efforts that are being carried out, especially with the creation of the Business Single Window. Following the report submitted by the World Bank, the Committee is firmly convinced that the position of Equatorial Guinea will improve significantly in the next publication of the Doing Business Report.
