The Africa Startup Ecosystem Builders (ASEB) Summit and Awards stand as a groundbreaking event dedicated to cultivating a vibrant startup landscape in Africa. Its mission is to encourage collaboration, inspire innovation, and acknowledge exceptional individuals who play a pivotal role in advancing and championing the African startup ecosystem as ecosystem builders.

In addition to the announcement of the ASEB award winners during the grand event on December 7, 2023, the organization is thrilled to inform that they will also be honoring five distinguished individuals with special awards. These categories have been carefully curated to recognize outstanding contributions to the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The ASEB awards are designed to honor excellence within Africa’s startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This prestigious recognition celebrates the often unsung heroes of ecosystem building—individuals, organizations, communities, and institutions that have demonstrated innovation, excellence, outstanding achievements, and significant impact in advancing African entrepreneurship.

In the lineup of finalists for the upcoming edition, Dreams Hub and its founder, Oscar Nchaso, stand out. Hailing from Equatorial Guinea, the only Spanish-speaking country in the continent, Dreams Hub, an AfriLabs member, takes the spotlight. This co-working space with own incubator operates as a technological, social entrepreneurship, business, research, and innovation center, strategically empowering and connecting young people and their ideas with supportive networks to transform dreams into successful realities.

In its inaugural year, ASEB made its mark in Johannesburg, South Africa, drawing an impressive gathering of over 150 attendees from 36 countries. The highlight of the event was the grand awards ceremony, where 88 outstanding ecosystem builders across 22 categories were honored for their remarkable contributions.

This celebration not only showcased the entrepreneurial spirit but also highlighted the drive that resonates across 25 African nations. Building on the resounding success of its first edition, ASEB proudly announces Nairobi, Kenya, as the host city for its highly anticipated second edition.
