Equatorial Guinea: towards a professional artistic ecosystem

Following the previous edition held in the city of Bata, this year’s ceremony returned to the Hotel 3 de Agosto in Malabo, once again becoming the stage to honor the most influential figures in the Equatoguinean music scene in 2023. The Jonchams Music Awards are the most prestigious award that all local artists aspire to, working tirelessly throughout the year to immortalize their musical successes.

In this ninth edition, Jhonson Killer was the star of the night, winning two of the most coveted awards. The author of hits like “Águila” and “Esconderse” took home the “Best Male Artist” award, succeeding Achana, who won this category in 2022. Additionally, he was also awarded “Best National Artist,” further solidifying his dominance in the local music industry.
