1.-DIÉ MATY FALL AFFAIR: Bamba Kassé, Secretary General ( SG)  of Synpics, responds to the Sun section: “This is neither a substitute nor an interference”

The National Executive Board of the Syndicate of Information and Communication Professionals (Synpics) has being accused of “excessive interference” in the Synpics section of the national daily Le Soleil.  The Journalist also denounced a “violation of her prerogatives”, enough for Synpics General Secretary Bamba Kassé to provide details on how Synpics works.

Stating, the Ben of the Syndicate has never made “substitute or interference” in the case of the journalist, Dié Maty Fall.  He responds to the accusation by the Synpics section of the national daily Le Soleil saying “This is neither a substitute nor an interference”

 

2.-African debt cancellation: Parliaments adopt an action plan

For the cancellation of the African debts, the presidents of the parliaments,  adopted an action plan and an advocacy strategy with international partners and donors.

To take charge of the African debt issue and its total and final cancellation, African parliaments are mobilizing; At the end of a virtual meeting to launch a  G7 group organized on Monday, October 12, 2020, “the presidents of the parliaments adopted an action plan and an advocacy strategy with international partners and donors, which are backed by a solemn commitment to ensure, through appropriate legislative measures, that the resources resulting from the cancellation of the African debt are directed towards priority socio-economic sectors and likely to improve the living conditions of the populations ”.

 

3.-Launch of the sale of cards: The pro-Bara Gaye are breaking everything

At the office of the Pds yesterday afternoon, a pitched battle of about ten minutes pitted liberal militants against supporters of Bara Gaye who tried to scuttle the ceremony for the launch of the sale of card as dozens of young people jumped the four walls of the Oumar Lamine Badji office. 4.-Macky Sall will  host Emmanuel Macron today

After the Ivorian Alassane Dramane Ouattara yesterday, Macky Sall will be at the Elysée today. Since the election of Emmanuel Macron, Senegalese diplomacy has been actively behind the scenes to allow the Senegalese President be part of the first contingent of African leaders to be received by the French stating that they want to  talk about economy and security.

Macky Sall will host Emmanuel Macron today after Alassane Dramane Ouattara yesterday. Of course, the Senegalese President is not the first African head of state to meet the French leader, nor the first to receive honors at the Elysee Palace. Despite everything, this meeting is considered “important” by Senegalese diplomacy.

 

5.-Joyyanti list: Abdoul Mbaye accused of selling tickets

“Who pays is invested!” This is how the members of the coordination of departmental officials of the Alliance for Citizenship and Work (Act) reacted after the validation of Joyyanti’s list. They accuse their leader, Abdoul Mbaye, of having chosen his men, each for a membership fee. At a press conference yesterday, those frustrated with the Act, spoke of “violation of their party’s texts”. “Articles 25 and 26 of the founding texts of the Act which stipulate that to be a member, one must at least do 6 months in the party, has not been respected. 6.-Akilee case: Directors heard by Ofnac

This controversy sparked by the ten-year contract signed in February 2019 between the National Electricity Company of Senegal (Senelec) and its partner Akilee for the installation of smart meters. People who occupy positions of responsibility at the level of the General Directorate of Senelec are being heard at the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (Ofnac).

The revelation was made by sources close to the case in the newspaper “Les Echos”.  About ten directors have also being summoned discreetly by a judicial officer with the heading  “Confidential”.

 

7.- Macky settles the debate on the parity of the Eco: “Until the effective entry into force of the Eco, nothing will change as regards to the fixed parity of our currency”

He was particularly expected on the new currency. 8.- Covid19: 52 cures and 24 contaminations recorded on October 17

The Ministry of Health and Social Action took stock of the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic this Saturday, October 17. Out of 982 tests performed, 24 returned positive, with a positivity rate of 1.85%. These are 11 contact cases followed by the health services, 3 imported cases (AIBD) and 10 cases resulting from community transmission.

Which is distributed as follows: Ngor (2), Ouest Foire (2), Dakar Plateau (1), Guédiawaye (1), Mbao (1), Pikine (1) and Yoff (1).

The Director of Prevention of the Minister of Health also announced the cure of 52 patients who were under treatment, 6 serious cases and no deaths were recorded yesterday-Friday, October 16, 2020.

 

9.-  Clandestine Emigration: Announcement of the Secretary of State in charge of Senegalese abroad:

1,277 migrants, including Senegalese, reached the Spanish coast in two weeks, according to estimates by Moïse Sarr, Secretary of State in charge of Senegalese abroad,  according to the information site “emedia”. He intervened after the exit of the president of the Jappo association, Awa Ndiaye, who had revealed that nearly 2,000 Senegalese reached the Canary Islands in less than a week.

“What I can say clearly,” he corrects, “is that there are 1,277 migrants who have arrived on the Spanish coast, of all nationalities combined. It is extremely important to make this clarification. Yes, there were Senegalese but we have to be careful because there are a lot of migrants, often when they end up on the coast, they call themselves Senegalese even though they are not really Senegalese. ”.

 

10.-Violent remarks by the deputy for Ranérou:  congress for Democractic Renaissance  ( CRD)  calls for sanctions against Aliou Dembourou Sow.

The government must take all the necessary measures to slow down MP Aliou Dembourou Sow. In a press release, Abdoul Mbaye et Cie noted ” the increasingly aggressive and violent drift of political discourse in our country would be regretted”. And that, “the peak of language malevolence has been dangerously reached with the irresponsible, thoughtless and unintelligent call of deputy Aliou Dembourou Sow calling on  the Senegalese to take up arms against anyone who would oppose the third term of Macky Sall which is in its 2nd and last ”. The CRD, which strongly condemns such hateful remarks and likely to undermine national unity, calls for the “responsibility of politicians of all stripes”.
