Cairo: Egyptian president urges increasing number of government non-profit universities

This came in a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority’s chief Ehab El Faar.

CAIRO – 19 November 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday urged the government to work on increasing the number of non-profit universities belonging to the government nationwide to 15 universities, the presidential spokesman said.

Sisi highlighted the importance that the new universities focus on modern sciences and developed scientific specialties that qualify youth for the job market.

Sisi also reviewed the status of the new international and technological universities being constructed nationwide.

During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar has reviewed with the president the state’s plan for the new school year that started Saturday, including preventive procedures to avoid further spread of coronavirus.

In this regard, the president stressed the importance of committing to these precautionary procedures, including sterilizing all institutions related to different universities, to ensure the safety of students and workers.

Sisi also urged backing mechanisms of remote learning in universities.
