The event was co-hosted by the Mission of China to the African Union (AU), China Manned Space Agency (CMS) and the African Union Commission (AUC) and was the first time that the Chinese taikonauts had a direct dialogue with African teenagers.

Teenagers from Equatorial Guinea watched the whole dialogue and had a joyful space themed party at the same time with the help of Chinese Embassy in Malabo and Dreams Hub of which the video was tweeted by Chinese spokesperson Ms. Hua Chunying and got thousands of views on global social media.

Due to all these efforts, Equatorial Guinea was selected as one of the seven countries of which its teenagers will have a direct dialogue with the new group of three Shenzhou-16 Chinese taikonauts who left the earth for Tiangong Space Station on May 30, 2023. They will stage the first international painting exhibition on the China Space Station and display paintings received from African teenagers.

The boundless potential of space exploration resonates deeply with African youth, who see it as a testament to human resilience and the pursuit of new frontiers. Through their heartfelt wishes, they applaud China’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of human exploration and paving the way for a future that transcends borders.

Two youths from Equatorial Guinea won the third awards of the painting contest with the theme, My Dream to the Space held in March, 2023, amongst 50 winners all over Africa, and Equatorial Guinea is one of only 8 African countries which have more than 1 winner.

The two winners were interviewed and praised by the influential Chinese media, Southern Metropolis Daily. The award ceremony will be held this September in Beijing during the second edition of Dialogue between Chinese Taikonauts and African Youths.

Meanwhile, the famous musician Nelida karr and Ruben co-composed a theme song Take me to the Space in Chinese, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese for this event. GE Dancers and students from Maria Cano school made a passionate dancing video with this rhythmic song. Once again, the effort catches the eyes of the globally known Chinese media including CGTN.
