Medical team arrives in Burkina Faso

China's first medical team sent to Burkina Faso in West Africa — 12 experts to help the country protect itself against COVID-19

Arrived in Ouagadougou, the capital, on Thursday, April 16. The team, assigned from Tianjin People’s Hospital, has specialists in intensive care, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, traditional Chinese medicine, medical imaging, epidemic research, disinfection and medical care.

The experts have all joined the campaign to fight against the pandemic in Hubei province and Tianjin.

They brought medicine and medical materials for prevention, disinfection and temperature testing.

Over the next two weeks, they will provide training for local doctors, exchange experience, help spread knowledge to residents and suggest guidelines for the West African country.

Burkina Faso has seen confirmed cases of the COVID-19 rise since the first confirmed case on March 9. As of Thursday, it had reported 542 confirmed COVID-19 patients and 32 deaths.
