Zambia: Hon. Mutati Gives Keynote Speech at Afrilabs Annual Gathering

Zambias hosting of the Afrilabs Annual Gathering was largely due to the support of the Honourable Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, as revealed by the CEO of Jacaranda Hub, Mara Zhanet Michelo.

Speaking to Africanian News, she acknowledged the massive help the Zambian Government undertook to assure a successful edition and especially the government’s involvement in developing the local innovation ecosystem.

“I would also like to commend the new dawn government under the leadership of His Excellency, Hakainde Hichilema, on its commitment to driving technology and innovation through the newly formed Ministry of Technology and Science. In executing its mandate, the Ministry of Technology and Science is fostering research and innovation in order to improve commercialization and market acceptance in digital economies. The Ministry is now in the centre of the human development process and Jacaranda Hub is proud to be a co-anchor in that development process,” she said.

But Before the minister gave his speech, everyone rose in homage to the Zambian national anthem.

With the anthem done, Hon. Felix Mutati gave an inspiring keynote speech on day one of the Annual gathering using anecdotes to properly elaborate the importance that Zambia plays in the African tech ecosystem, whilst also inviting investors to invest, assuring a gain on every investment.

He said, “when a gazelle wakes up in the morning, it begins its days by running faster than the Lion, so it doesn’t get eaten by the Lion and likewise the lion has to wake up ready for the hunt, ready to catch the gazelle before it runs out of its reach, it´s survival at its finest. Africa, we must wake up ready to run, there’s no time to waste, Africa keep running, we’ve got great ground to cover, Africa Run, Keep running.”

The 2022 Afrilabs Gathering enters day two today.
