The Third Secretary of the Turkish embassy in Equatorial Guinea, MertÖz, on Tuesday, August 10, visited Dreams Hub, in order to learn about the Crystal Eggs project and see how the embassy could support the initiative from the Center for Innovation and Research.
The Director of the institution Oscar A. Nchaso Bekari, gave him a guided tour of the center which is currently undergoing renovations, to show him the progress, while both discussed the planned expansion of the center, was on hand to receive him.
Nchaso Bekari, spoke of the process, and the current situation of the Hub. As for active projects, the center highlighted its star project: Crystal Eggs, a program for girls and boys from 7 to 13 years old who receive free training in information technology and English.
“Dreams Hub is a member of Afrilabs, the largest technology and innovation network in Africa, with 292 Hubs in 49 countries. The center was conceived as an incubator and accelerator of ideas and it is aimed at providing technological tools mainly to young people with high potential from families with limited economic resources.
It was also established to promote the research, development and innovation (R + D + I) of the ecosystem, produce technological products and services, to meet the demand of Equatorial Guinean companies and population. It also promotes entrepreneurship from the early stages of educational training, the creation of a generation of young entrepreneurs, stimulating self-employment and the creation of qualified employment at the national level, added the Director of the center. Highlighting its AUTOCLAX self-training platform, for which they were selected in 2020 as per the Afrilabs network, as one of the five best Hubs for the best response to Covid-19.
The diplomat, in turn, applauded the initiative, showing the firm interest of the Turkish embassy in Malabo, for the consolidation of the innovative ecosystem.
“We have a scholarship program for young people to support the efforts of all the other actors involved in education. The new normal is taking hold more and more and it only understands two main things: a computer and digital skills. ”- Mert Oz said.
