  1. Limpopo ANC leader’s daughter scores PPE contract

 Ndivhuwo Radzilani’s construction company, Ndia Business Trading, was awarded a R1.1 million contract to supply PPE to the Limpopo Department of Health. Her mother, who is a former Vhembe District Municipality mayor and current MPL, serves on the provincial ANC executive committee (PEC).

  1. ’Remain vigilant’ – Fear runs high after Experian data breach

Some 24 million people’s information and that of about 800 000 businesses were acquired by a fraudster who allegedly impersonated a “legitimate” client and fraudulently requested the data from multinational consumer credit reporting company Experian. At risk are those who hold bank and credit accounts.

  1. SA’s oldest man Fredie Blom dies at 116

Cape Town – Fredie Blom, South Africa’s oldest man, has died at 116 years old.

The beloved grandfather died at his Delft home on Saturday morning after a short illness.

Earlier this week Oom Fredie’s family told the Daily Voice his advanced age had finally caught up with him after he stopped eating and was bedridden for two weeks.

  1. ’Psychological impact of Covid-19 could be SA’s second wave’

The SA Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) issued this warning as desperate callers to their helpline have doubled since lockdown started and continue to climb.

The organisation warned that a second wave of crisis facing the country would be the psychological impact of Covid-19 and which would be “much more devastating and longer-lasting than Covid-19”.

The resignations further underscore the crisis in SA cricket as it battles financial problems, an administrative meltdown and raging debates around transformation.

  1. Data breach at Experian, 24 million South Africans’ personal information exposed

Experian experienced a breach of data which exposed personal information of as many as 24 million South Africans and 793 749 business entities to a suspected fraudster.

The company said it had identified the suspect and confirmed that the individual’s hardware was impounded and the misappropriated data secured and deleted.

  1. 240 healthcare workers have died from Covid-19, says minister Zweli Mkhize

About 240 healthcare workers from both state hospitals and private facilities have died from Covid-19, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said this week.

“We salute these fallen soldiers and pay tribute to them for their commitment to serving the people of South Africa right until the very end,” Mkhize said.

  1. Greenpeace skewers South Africa’s case for oil drilling

Literally in the background, Mauritius is cleaning up thousands of barrels of oil that spilled earlier this month when a vessel ran aground off the island nation’s coast. Mantashe said the South African government will ensure exploration won’t come at the expense of the environment.

“Oil comes with a lot of risks, complications and negative impacts, whether you drill, carry or burn it,” said Greenpeace.
