Mining Elites in Africa will host its first-ever live awards ceremony in 2027, bringing together leading companies, projects, executives and innovators from across Africa’s mining sector at the Investing in African Mining Indaba in February. The initiative is being led by VUKA Group’s Mining Elites in Africa, with the ceremony forming part of the 2027 Mining Elites in Africa Yearbook.

The awards programme is produced by Mining Review Africa in partnership with Mining Indaba and will recognise individuals and organisations contributing to operational excellence, sustainability, safety, community development and economic growth across Africa’s mining industry.

For the first time, winners in the different Mining Elites categories will be formally presented with their awards on stage during a live ceremony at Mining Indaba. The organisers say the new format will provide greater visibility for the companies, projects, technologies and environmental, social and governance initiatives being recognised.

The 2027 edition will be held under the theme “Mining beyond tomorrow”, highlighting the sector’s focus on innovation, leadership and the development of a more sustainable and competitive mining industry.

The Mining Elites in Africa Yearbook will also receive exposure through major industry events across the continent, including Mining Indaba, Enlit Africa, Junior Indaba, Nigeria Mining Week, DRC Mining Week, Africa Down Under, Joburg Indaba, Zimbabwe Mining Week and Resourcing Tomorrow. Year-round digital and social media coverage will also be provided through Mining Review Africa’s platforms.

Organisers said the partnership with Mining Indaba and the addition of the live ceremony will create a broader platform for companies and industry stakeholders to engage with the people and organisations driving the next phase of African mining.

Nominations for the 2027 Mining Elites in Africa awards are currently open, with the deadline set for September 30, 2026. Companies and industry stakeholders are being encouraged to submit nominations for leaders, projects and organisations making significant contributions to the sector.
