Nigeria and Cameroon: 4th and 5th in Global Employee Well-Being Survey

A recent survey conducted by the McKinsey Health Institute, as reported by Business Insider, sheds light on the holistic health of employees in 30 countries. This research not only reveals the rankings but also underscores the critical importance of employee well-being.

Nigeria and Cameroon have emerged as leaders in employee well-being, securing the 4th and 5th positions globally. The survey evaluated the social, mental, spiritual, and physical well-being of over 30,000 workers. Nigeria and Cameroon both achieved an impressive rating of 69%, topping the list of African countries for employee well-being.

Notably, survey participants from Nigeria reported strong holistic health, with 72% in good social health, 69% in physical health, 79% in spiritual health, and 79% in mental health. Meanwhile, Cameroon had the lowest rates of burnout symptoms, with only 9% of survey participants experiencing burnout at their workplaces, compared to the global average of 20%. Cameroon also reported robust holistic health, with 74% in good social health, 63% in physical health, 84% in spiritual health, and 80% in mental health.

Globally, Turkey secured the top position for employee well-being with a rating of 78%, followed by India at 76% and China at 75%. In contrast, Japan ranked at the bottom of the list with a score of only 25%. Participants from Japan indicated that 30% were in good social health, 74% in physical health, 24% in spiritual health, and 42% in mental health.
