Equatorial Guinea: Simeon Oyono Esono Angue meets Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang

Equatorial Guinea firmly adheres to the one-China principle and opposes interfering in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights.

On 23 March 2023, State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Qin Gang of China met in Beijing with Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora Simeon Oyono Esono Angue.

Equatoguinean Minister Simeon Oyono Esono Angue is the first foreign minister from an African country to make an official visit to China after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, fully attesting to the great importance China attaches to China-Equatorial Guinea relations and the deep and strong friendship between the two countries.

Simeon Oyono Esono Angue said that China is a true friend, good brother and good partner of Equatorial Guinea and Africa. He sincerely thanked China for providing support for Equatorial Guinea’s diversified development and the fight against the pandemic, and said nothing can prevent Equatorial Guinea from deepening friendship and cooperation with China.

For his part, Qin Gang emphasised that China always stands for mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation. China is always on the side of peaceful development, as well as equity and justice, and on the right side of history. Having proposed the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, President Xi Jinping has further proposed the Global Civilisation Initiative which advocates that countries should overcome cultural misunderstanding, clash and supremacy through exchanges, mutual learning and coexistence.

China welcomes Equatorial Guinea’s active response and support for the Global Civilisation Initiative and its effort to jointly carry forward the common values of humanity.
