Citizens of the United States of America, for years, didn’t require a visa to visit Equatorial Guinea, but all that has now changed as the Equatorial Guinean Ministry of Foreign affairs, Cooperation and Diaspora on the 24th of April, 2023, informed United states Embassy in Malabo, that the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea will henceforth require a Visa for all U.S passports holders traveling to Equatorial Guinea thereby anceling the previous visa – free travel policy.

Amercians currently in the country on their U.S passports do not need to obtain a visa until they plan to leave Equatorial Guinea and return at a later date. Any re-entry into Equatorial Guinea will now require a visa. If U.S Citizens are planning to leave Equatorial Guinea and not return, there is no need to apply for a visa.

U.S Diplomatic and Official Passports holders with residency permits will be allowed to leave and re-enter the country without visas, upon presentation of the travelers Equatorial Guinean government-issued diplomatic ID card.
