Malabo: As the country celebrates ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav‘ marking the 75th Independence Day, Ambassador Man Mohan Bhanot hoisted the national flag and read a message on the ocasion of 75th Independence Day of India (15th August 2021, Malabo)

On this august occasion, I convey wholehearted greetings from India to His Excellency President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, his government, his people and fellow Indian Nationals living in this lovely country! pay Today, the 15th August 2021, is a very significant and festive day for every Indian as they celebrate 75th Independence today. The day is also significant as it marks the 30th Constitution Day of Equatorial Guinea.
For all of us this is an opportunity to doubly delight-in the celebrations today. It my great privilege to celebrate this event in this beautiful and lovely country of Equatorial Guinea as India’s first resident Ambassador. Even though we have set-up our Embassy in Malabo only in 2019, the relations between the peoples of the two countries have existed prior to their independence. The bilateral relations between the two friendly countries are on the increase in recent times on various fronts. Excellency Vice-President Nguema Obiang’s visit to India this year in February has added another milestone in making our relations more robust. Today, Indians are celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Divine Festival of India’s Independence.
It is the occasion every Indian can look back and feel proud of diverse, vibrant and the largest democracy of India, and the progress made by India in the short span of 74 years since her independence from the colonial rule in 1947. As India India rejoices this event, it also pledges to continue sharing the rich experience of her growth and development with Africa. India and Africa share a rich history of cultural, economic and political interactions rooted in the spirit of developing together as equals. India’s concerns for Africa were evident immediately after India got her own independence, when she vigorously advocated for the decolonization of the African nations. It was probably the first country to establish an academic department of African Studies way back in 1954. Wish you all a very happy ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Constitution Day of Equatorial Guinea. I also take this opportunity to convey our heartiest good wishes to the First Lady on her birth day 20 August!
