Google Doodle Pays Tribute Nigerian Football Legend, Rashidi Yekini

Google has honoured the late Nigerian footballer Rashidi Yekini with a doodle on what would have been his 60th birthday

 In a touching homage to one of Nigeria’s football legends, Google has created a captivating doodle that resurrects the iconic moment when Rashidi Yekini celebrated his historic goal during the 1994 World Cup. Yekini, who overcame poverty and homelessness, is remembered as one of Nigeria’s greatest football stars, and this artwork honors his unforgettable contribution to the sport.

The Google doodle encapsulates the essence of Yekini’s celebration when, following his goal against Bulgaria, he raced to the net, gripping it with both arms while tears of joy streamed down his face. Yekini holds the record for the most goals scored in the history of the Super Eagles, with an impressive tally of 37 goals.
