Equatorial Guinea: Dreams Talks - country chapter: Logimarex in the African market

“I consider myself a citizen of the world, this has allowed me to have the opportunity to experience the various cultural visions applicable to the work that I am currently performing as Export Manager at Logimarex international. ”– MBA COSTA

Dreams Talks: The firm presence of new technologies, empowerment or leadership are  key factors in this new digital era. We have followed profiles of promising youngsters on social networks and other media of communications.

Thank you for accessing this interview with Dreams Talks for Africanian.com. Let’s talk briefly about you and say who is Sara Mba.

S.M: Talking about me has been one of my biggest challenges, since I consider myself a citizen of the world, this has allowed me to have the opportunity to experience the various cultural visions applicable to the work that I am currently performing as Export Manager at Logimarex international. I consider that I am constantly learning about what the cultural environment to which I belong,  Africa, offers me and, on the other hand, there is the European environment, in which I live and continue to develop as a professional.

Both environments daily provide me with different points of view of the business world, with which I come to the conclusion that the only valid manual to continue evolving as a professional in the sector I belong to, is to continue betting on the knowledge of the idiosyncrasy and know-how of both places. My origins make me daily a strong woman, with  attitude, who must always seek from humility and creative ways to find solutions to each of the adversities that we face in order to be able to achieve the objectives set in the organization I am part of.

I must also highlight the deep admiration  I  have for all those businessmen / entrepreneurs who are committed to developing their business ideas out there, applying technological tools acquired from Europe to their business models. Despite the challenges presented by the environment, their determination reminds me of something  Muhammad Ali once said: “the champions must have endurance until the last minute. They must have talent and also will. But the will must be greater than the talent “.

Dreams Talks: What are the challenges that you think, has the arrival of the covid-19 supposed for the Industry or the sector to which you belong?

S.M: More than challenges, we would talk about opportunities, in this digital era, we are aware that the African continent is awakening, the main development objective that we observe is the greater role that the local production of the countries is gaining. For us it is a real pride  to see the industries of  those countries develop, but this fact does not mean that they continue to depend on imports. It is true that supply chains, manufacturers and ultimately business stakeholders are playing with new rules such as mobility difficulties, health risks and caring for the people who make up our workforce and their families. It is a time of economic shrinkage, but of consolidation of the players with solid and reliable models.

Dreams Talks: Why did Logimarex start its expansion in the African market? Is it a strategy to respond to the ravages caused by the pandemic?

S.M: Now is the right time for us. We have more than half a century of experience and we have evolved and consolidated our position in Equatorial Guinea. We know very well what is happening in the neighboring markets and our professional network extends throughout West Africa. The confidence of the leading brands also adds to this growth commitment so that we cannot fail.

For us it is a natural growth, something logical based on the experience and current structure to optimize our resources and services. We already had this vision long before the arrival of Covid-19, the pandemic has only reinforced something that we already knew “Africa is the future”.

Dreams Talks: What makes the African market particularly attractive for Logimarex and what sets it apart from other players in the same sector?

S.M: Being  Logimarex  a business unit of  the Martinez Hermanos Group, a company of great renown in Equatorial Guinea, we already have a company structure easily scalable to other countries close to Equatorial Guinea. We have the know-how of  the  idiosyncrasy of  the markets, that is, the baggage of more than 60 years operating  in the Equatorial Guinean market, positioning the best Spanish  brands in the different sectors of adaptation.

We also see that the global trend is towards Africa and we feel privileged that we can add so much value due to all the connections, distribution chains and services that we already have in place.

Dreams Talks: Do you have a CSR plan in place or contemplated at Logimarex, as well as the transfer of knowledge and technologies for the following generations? How does Logimarex plan to promote itself on the African continent?

S.M: Logimarex, as part of the Martínez  Hermanos  Group, executes all its commitment to Social and Corporate Responsibility through  its Martinez Hermanos Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of Africa and the Canary Islands, through projects in the social areas, educational, training, health, and sports fields. In the long term, we want to contribute to creating more creative, sustainable, and inclusive societies; and to connect and activate talent, creating knowledge networks between  Europe and  Africa, through the Canary Islands.

Among the ongoing projects to create knowledge networks, we have training activities with workshops in the field of digital skills, crafts, textiles, and restaurants and hotels. Likewise, we grant scholarships to young Africans to be able to study in Europe.

Thank you very much for your time Ms. MBA, we hope to have you again soon.
