Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began, back in late 2019 despite that not being the most severe year, humanity has been on the alert for any kind of infection, virus or even plague that could threaten health and stability. In the United States, after proclaiming the new fashion of eating pizza with pickles instead of pizza with pineapple, all the alarm bells have gone off when they discovered that the so-called “super pigs” (a wild pig from Canada that have shown great intelligence) were beginning to arrive in their territory threatening to destroy all crops, thus putting the food production wheel at risk.

These super pigs are capable of surviving temperatures of -50°C and spread all kinds of diseases, such as swine fever, which can wipe out any ordinary pig. They are larger than other members of their species and have something very important: an incredible survival instinct. Neither cold nor winter can stop this beast of nature, which can weigh up to 300kg. They can dig deep tunnels in which to hide from the freezing wind and snow and can find food with extreme ease. The United States is experiencing an explosion of wild pigs. The population growth of feral pigs is reaching worrying levels, and hunters are unable to find a way to control the number of pigs roaming the country.
These animals have even adapted to these hunting measures and have become nocturnal. They hide during the day so that hunters cannot find them, which makes it difficult to find them. Their dark fur doesn’t help at all, and as we said, they seem to be getting smarter and smarter, as reported by Gizmodo. The previous, most common method used by hunters in the US was to trap a pig, put a tracker on it and then release it. When it rejoined the other pigs, the hunters would finish them all off. The problem for them is that now there are too many of them.

This problem of an abundance of feral pigs is coupled with the massive appearance of the Canadian super pig, leading to a possible risk of crop failure. Moreover, the latter could make the former sick and the latter in turn could come into contact with domestic pigs, which would also create a long-term problem. In any case, the super pigs, with their gigantic appearance, arrive on US soil with a big appetite.
