Dreams Hub – Research & Innovation center (Equatorial Guinea). A member of AfriLabs had the great honor of hosting US embassy consul to Malabo, Samantha Jenkins.
The author of Dreams, Paracaidas, and Miel, Oscar A. NCHASO BEKARI, received Samantha Jenkins at his Research and Innovation center, Dreams Hub. Coinciding with the World Book Day on Friday 23 April. During the visit he also signed a copy of his books for Mrs. Jenkins.
During the visit both dialogued around the benefits of Dreams Hub, the exchange programs and more specific their project with the kids; Crystal Eggs.
“Dreams Hub is a dreams machine, it´s my `giving back to the community´, being a 2016 YALI Mandela Washington Fellow. Dreams Hub is an initiative aimed at providing technological tools, to promote research, development and innovation to the ecosystem, stimulating technological platforms for the generation of nationally produced technological products and services, to meet the demand of companies, by promoting entrepreneurship from the first stages of educational training, building the next generation of dreamers, stimulating the creation of qualified employment and the creation of value at the national level.
We mainly have two programs: entrepreneurs receiving guidance through our self-taught platform AUTOCLAX and a project called CrystalEggs or #HuevosDeCristal in Spanish, kids between 7-13, receiving FREE education in ICT at Dreams Hub. They represent fragility, agility, curiosity, absorption capacity & great enthusiasm to learn in a fun way.” Explained Mr. Nchaso
Consul Jenkins who praised the initiative also took a few minutes to interact with the kids, each introduced themselves and an overview of what they´ve learnt so far with the program at Dreams Hub.
“I am here to encourage you today to learn, to discover. There are many possibilities and you are the future.” said Jenkins to some of the Crystal Eggs present on that day.
The activity also gave the kids, aged seven to thirteen years, the opportunity to know more about the USA, asking direct questions to the consul, ending up taking a group picture for the memories.
Later on that day, in literacy lessons, Crystal Eggs worked on innovation in their own stories, coming up with variations and different endings to well known tales.
