One-day-old baby undergoes successful cardiac catheterization in Egypt’s Port Said

After performing the successful cardiac catheterization by a medical specialized team, the percentage of the oxygen raised to 85 percent, the statement said.

One-day-old baby undergoes successful cardiac catheterization in Egypt’s Port Said

A one-day-old baby underwent a successful cardiac catheterization at El Nasr Hospitalized Hospital for Children, which affiliates with the General Authority of Healthcare, in the Mediterranean governorate of Port Said, announced the hospital in a statement on Sunday.

The baby, Layan, was born at the Women’s Health Hospital in Port Said (formerly Specialized Obstetrics and Gynecology). Her condition was very serious, as the oxygen level in the blood did not exceed 40 percent, and then she was immediately transferred to Al-Nasr Specialized Hospital for Children, where she underwent to the surgery.

According to the medical diagnosis, Layan was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) and  valvular heart atrophy.  Before the surgery, the baby was injected with a medicine that help keep the percentage of oxygen in the blood during the surgery.
