At a time when public trust has become one of the most valuable assets in healthcare, Hospital Nuevo INSESO in Malabo is investing not only in clinical innovation, but in the human dimension of medicine. Through a focused effort on communication and leadership, the institution is reshaping how care is delivered and perceived.
On February 20 and 23, Hospital Nuevo INSESO hosted a Communication and Leadership in Healthcare workshop aimed at strengthening organizational culture and reinforcing the principle that everything communicates.
The initiative was led by the hospital’s Marketing and Communication Department under the direction of Sara Mba Costa, with a clear strategic objective: to remind professionals that a hospital’s reputation is built daily through attitude, empathy, and consistency.
A total of 122 healthcare professionals from Hospital Nuevo INSESO, along with colleagues from Loeri Comba, participated in this first edition. The strong attendance reflected a shared commitment to advancing not only clinical standards, but also the quality of human interaction within the hospital environment.

The workshop featured a central session on effective communication and transformational leadership led by Oscar A. Nchaso Bekari, founder and executive director of Dreams Hub. His message challenged conventional notions of authority and hierarchy.
“A leader is an ordinary person capable of inspiring other ordinary people to achieve something extraordinary together,” he told an audience composed of physicians, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff.
He continued by emphasizing the deeper principle behind the statement: “Leadership is not about command. It is about inspiration.”
The message resonated across departments, reinforcing the idea that every professional, regardless of role, directly influences patient experience and public confidence in Hospital Nuevo INSESO. Through participatory exercises and analysis of real case scenarios, participants explored critical themes including conscious communication in patient care, the impact of professional attitude on perception, alignment between institutional values and individual behavior, and the role of personal leadership in shaping collective reputation.
The message throughout the workshop was clear and repeated as a guiding principle: “In healthcare, every gesture matters. Every word leaves an imprint. Every look can build or erode trust.”
Hospital leadership emphasized that this workshop marks the beginning of a broader strategic roadmap designed to embed communication excellence into the culture of Hospital Nuevo INSESO. In an increasingly complex healthcare landscape, technical competence alone is no longer sufficient. Sustainable excellence requires conscious leadership, organizational coherence, and a sustained commitment to service.
By placing communication and leadership at the center of its institutional vision, Hospital Nuevo INSESO signals a forward looking approach to care. In doing so, it affirms that true healthcare excellence lies not only in medical expertise, but in the trust earned through every human connection.
