Attracted by the growing potential of the African market, the company has expanded its data center in Lagos with the LG2.3 facility. This new infrastructure aims to accelerate digital transformation in Nigeria by providing advanced, secure colocation and interconnection solutions, reinforcing the country’s position in the global digital economy.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bruce Owen, President of EMEA at Equinix, who, along with other company executives, led the ribbon-cutting at the newly expanded site. The agenda also included an official visit to the Governor of Lagos State and an exclusive event with key clients and partners from Nigeria’s business and technology sectors. During this gathering, attendees discussed Equinix’s impact on the country’s digitalization and its role in fostering innovation and business agility in the region.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, Equinix executives also participated in a tree-planting ceremony, symbolizing the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmentally friendly practices across its global operations. The innovation and strategic partnerships emerging from this dynamic region continue to inspire us to contribute to its digital and sustainable future.” Meanwhile, Wole Abu, Managing Director of Equinix West Africa, highlighted the increasing importance of data centers in the country’s economic growth and announced that the company is advancing three additional projects in Nigeria, with plans to expand into Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa.
