Bangui was the scene this week of a large political march in which Central African citizens expressed their support for President Faustin-Archange Touadera and formally requested that he run as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections. The march, organized by the Youth Platform of the Presidential Majority, brought together activists from various political parties, including members of the opposition.

During the event, representatives of the Platform delivered a letter to the Head of State, arguing that his leadership is crucial for the country’s future. Christian Gonedere Kossi, who spoke on behalf of the movement, emphasized the importance of the current government’s continuity and pointed out that the nation needs stability to advance in development and the sovereign management of its resources.

President Touadera, upon receiving the request, stated that he would take time to reflect before announcing a decision. However, he urged the youth to remain active in the country’s construction, highlighting their essential role in national development. “The future of the Central African Republic is in the hands of its youth,” he declared to the attendees.

The participation of young people from different political sectors, including the Central African People’s Liberation Movement (MLPC), the Central African Democratic Rally (RDC), and others, reflected a common interest in the continuity of the presidential leadership. At the end of the march, the attendees peacefully dispersed, emphasizing their intention to continue promoting political dialogue in the country.

With the presidential elections scheduled for December, the anticipation surrounding the president’s decision continues to grow. Meanwhile, various sectors of society are voicing their positions regarding the political future of the Central African Republic.
