Egypt affirms availability of goods, food for months amid Coronavirus crises

Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade affirmed, Wednesday, the availability of all food commodities at markets, affirming that there is no need to panic regarding goods amid the crises of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Minister Ali Meshly added that there is also a strategic stockpile to meets the country’s needs for several months to come. He added that no need for any one to worry, especially as the authorities deal decisively with anyone trying to manipulate with the quality of products or prices.

During a press conference held March 16, Egypt’s Prime Minster Mostafa Madbouly warned of attempts to hide any goods or to increase the prices, adding, “All goods are available and no need for citizens to stock at homes”.

Ministry of Health announced Tuesday that the country recorded 30 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number to 196.

All social gatherings, shows at cinemas and theaters were suspended in Egypt amid fears of the spread of the emerging Coronavirus. As of March 19, all aviation movement will be suspended as well.

Furthermore, schools and universities across the country were suspended for two weeks as of March 15, according to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s directions as part of the country’s comprehensive strategy to combat Coronavirus.

President Sisi allocated L.E. 100 billion to fund the anti-Coronavirus strategy and its related precautionary measures.
