MTN offers 108,000 doses of vaccine to Benin Republic

Ralph Mupita, CEO of Mtn, is in Benin to meet with partners, both regulators and governments, to learn more, he said, about the role that Mtn can play in the strategy to fight the pandemic Covid-19. This is in line with the vision of President Patrice Talon.

Established in more than 20 countries, the cell phone operator Mtn does a lot for the influence and development of Africa. Solicited by the African Union, it has become involved in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic on the continent. In this context, Ralph Mupita, CEO of Mtn visiting Benin, announced yesterday Monday, February 7, the presence already on the ground of 108 000 doses of vaccine offered to Benin.

The fight against the coronavirus pandemic is a challenge facing the whole world. Africa, also concerned by this fight, must give itself the means to vaccinate its populations, and this requires the help of various partners.

He says that early last year, the African Union approached Mtn to request its assistance in the response to the coronavirus on the continent. In response, the company donated $25 million for the purchase of vaccines to support all African countries. Ralph Mupita said he was pleased that Benin received 108,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
