African Development Bank Appoints Dr. Oluwatomisin Adeola Fashina as Senior Director of Information Technology

The African Development Bank has recently announced the appointment of Dr. Oluwatomisin Adeola Fashina as the Senior Director of Information Technology and Chief Information Technology Officer, effective January 16, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in technology and financial services management, Dr. Fashina is poised to lead the bank’s digital transformation initiatives.

Background and Experience: Dr. Fashina, a Nigerian national, joins the African Development Bank from the Ecobank Group, where he held the position of Group Executive for Operations and Technology and Managing Director for eProcess International since March 2021. His responsibilities included overseeing operations and technology functions across 34 Ecobank affiliates, managing information technology, customer experience, information security, business continuity management, cyber security, procurements, and fintechs.

Leadership Roles and Achievements: Dr. Fashina’s extensive career includes leadership roles such as the Chairperson of Steward Bank in Harare, Zimbabwe, where he successfully turned the bank from loss- to profit-making between 2013 and 2016. Prior to that, he held key positions at ABSA Bank and Barclays Bank Emerging Markets, among others.

Educational Background: Dr. Fashina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Lagos, and a PhD in Business Management from Capella University in the U.S.

Adesina expressed confidence in Dr. Fashina’s strategic leadership and expertise in information technology, banking operations, and systems thinking. He believes that Dr. Fashina’s track record of driving organizational success through modern technologies will be a key asset during the bank’s major systems transformation.
