In a move that reinforces Africa’s growing influence in the global innovation and financial landscape, Equatorial Guinean economist and author Oscar Nchaso has been appointed Ambassador for Africa and China by the Madrid Capital FinTech Cluster (MAD FinTech). The appointment reflects his long-standing mission to build strategic bridges between continents and complements his current representation at Foro ECOFIN across Africa and China.

This designation comes at a critical moment for the global economy — one where digital transformation, finance, and innovation are increasingly interconnected, and where emerging economies are no longer waiting to be invited to the table but are actively reshaping the agenda.

Representatives from MAD FinTech and Foro ECOFIN described Nchaso as “a connector of worlds and ideas, a leader whose influence transcends institutions and borders.” His new role signifies not only recognition of his leadership but also the acknowledgment of Africa’s position as a central player in the conversation on digital finance, sustainability, and cross-continental collaboration.

A New Financial Bridge Between Africa, Europe, and China

Until now, MAD FinTech’s engagement in Africa was limited to selective partnerships in North Africa and participation in regional entrepreneurship events. With Nchaso’s ambassadorship, the organization enters a new chapter — one defined by structured cooperation and a long-term vision to interlink Europe’s financial innovation, Africa’s entrepreneurial dynamism, and China’s technological power.

This evolving collaboration, set to take shape by 2026, is expected to expand investment corridors, knowledge exchange platforms, and digital innovation ecosystems across the three regions.

Spain: AfriLabs embassador Oscar Nchaso named Madrid Capital FinTech Envoy — elevating Africa’s voice in global innovation

From Malabo to Madrid: An African Vision with Global Reach

Founder of Dreams Hub, XAPIENS, and Africanian News, as well as Dreams Hub Inc. in the United States, Nchaso’s professional journey merges African pragmatism, European insight, and Asian strategic depth. Recognized among Africa’s 50 Digital Champions (2020) and serving as AfriLabs Ambassador, he is a leading voice in redefining how Africa engages with the global digital economy.

For AfriLabs — Africa’s largest network of over 500 innovation hubs across 53 countries — this appointment is a strategic leap. It places the network and its members at the forefront of transcontinental financial diplomacy, connecting Madrid’s fintech cluster, Africa’s innovation ecosystem, and China’s capital and technology networks in a triangular alliance grounded in mutual value creation.

Redefining Africa’s Global Narrative

Speaking after his appointment, Nchaso emphasized the symbolic and practical dimensions of his new mission: “This is more than a title — it’s an opportunity to bridge not just continents, but perspectives. Africa must evolve from an aid-dependent narrative to one driven by innovation, self-determination, and value creation. The future is ours to design.”

Through platforms like Dreams Hub and Africanian News, Nchaso has consistently promoted the message that Africa’s greatest advantage lies in owning its narrative — telling its own stories, designing its own solutions, and exporting its innovations.

Beyond Titles: From Diplomacy to Action

As MAD FinTech Ambassador, Nchaso will advance initiatives that unite capital, talent, and technology across borders. His work will focus on facilitating access to European and Asian investments for African-led projects in fintech, energy, and sustainable infrastructure; promoting inclusive digital finance; and fostering innovation programs and regulatory frameworks that enable equitable participation in the digital economy.

According to Salvador Molina, President of Foro ECOFIN and MAD FinTech “Oscar’s appointment reaffirms Madrid’s role as a bridge between continents and as a laboratory for global cooperation. It’s a decisive step toward transforming collaboration into tangible progress — economic, technological, and human.”

The Emerging Triangular Alliance

Nchaso’s new role represents more than symbolic recognition — it embodies the emergence of a triangular partnership where Africa’s creativity, Europe’s financial expertise, and China’s technological infrastructure converge to shape the next decade of inclusive growth.

As Africa’s innovation networks mature and ecosystems like AfriLabs gain global visibility, the continent’s position is shifting from periphery to catalyst — from consumer to creator of global transformation.

In this new global geometry, figures like Oscar Nchaso serve as architects of connection — visionaries translating Africa’s ingenuity into global impact. His ambassadorship marks a new era where innovation knows no borders, and where Africa, finally, speaks in its own voice — loud, clear, and forward-looking.
