The Cameroonian Minister of Energy and Water, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, launched on May 7, 2020 a call for expressions of interest, for the prequalification of partners for the studies, construction and operation (Built Operate Transfer) of a gas-fired thermal power plant in the city of Limbe, South West region of Cameroon.
With a production capacity of 350 MW, the future Limbe gas-fired thermal power plant aims to improve the supply of electrical energy in the Littoral, West and South-West regions, underlines the government.
Does this call for expression of interest put an end to the collaboration between the Cameroonian government and the Eranove group on this project? wonders Invest in Cameroon . Indeed, on April 22, 2014, the State of Cameroon had already signed a memorandum of understanding for the realization of this project, with this independent producer of electricity and water, controlled by the investment fund Emerging Capital Partners (57%).
On March 5, 2015, Eranove even launched a call for expressions of interest, with a view to recruiting a design and engineering office responsible for carrying out an evaluation of the project. This assessment was to determine in particular the financial viability of the project, which seems not to have finally enticed this independent builder.
