Namibia to Host 7th Canada-Africa Business Conference in February 2027

The Canada-Africa Business Conference will return to Windhoek from February 2-4, 2027, with organizers expecting their largest African gathering in 33 years as investment ties between Canada and Namibia deepen.

Namibia will host the 7th Canada-Africa Business Conference from February 2-4, 2027, bringing Canadian and African business leaders, investors and institutions together for three days of discussions and engagement focused on trade, investment and long-term commercial partnerships.

Organized by the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, the conference is expected to be the largest event the Chamber has convened on the African continent in its 33-year history. The event will take place in Windhoek under the headline sponsorship of B2Gold and will begin with a site visit to B2Gold’s Otjikoto operations on February 2-3, followed by a full conference day on February 4.

The timing places the gathering immediately ahead of the Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, creating an opportunity for companies and investors to combine participation in two major business and investment events focused on Africa.

The Chamber said demand for the conference has increased significantly following its previous gathering in Windhoek, which attracted hundreds of delegates, including more than 50 representatives from Canadian companies. According to Chamber President Garreth Bloor, capacity for the 2027 conference has been doubled to accommodate the expected increase in participation.

The return to Namibia reflects the country’s growing importance as a destination for international investment and as a gateway to wider African markets. The conference will provide Canadian businesses with opportunities to explore commercial relationships in Namibia while connecting with companies and institutions from across the continent.

B2Gold’s Otjikoto mine will play a central role in the opening program. The company has described its long-term operations in Namibia as an example of how Canadian investment and local partnerships can contribute to economic development and broader commercial opportunities.

John Roos, Managing Director of B2Gold Namibia, said the company was proud to support what the Chamber describes as its largest event on African soil and to host business leaders at the Otjikoto operations. He highlighted the mine’s relationship with the surrounding Namibian community and the wider investments that have developed around the operation.

The company also plans to highlight the launch of the B2Gold Foundation in Windhoek as part of its broader engagement with Namibia and the local community.

The conference follows the Chamber’s Africa Accelerating 2026 gathering in Toronto, where Canada-Africa trade and investment opportunities were discussed by business and government representatives. Neil Reeder, Vice President of Government Relations at B2Gold, was among the speakers at the event, highlighting the role of Canadian companies in strengthening commercial ties with African markets.

Canada’s relationship with African economies has increasingly expanded beyond traditional trade relationships to include mining, energy, infrastructure, financial services and other investment sectors. Namibia, with its mineral resources and strategic position in Southern Africa, has emerged as an important market for international investors.

The previous Canada-Africa Business Conference in Windhoek also received recognition from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who commended the Chamber for bringing together leaders from Canada and Africa and for supporting investment, trade and practical partnerships between businesses and institutions.

The 2027 conference is expected to build on that engagement by bringing a larger number of Canadian companies and African stakeholders together in Windhoek. Discussions will focus on commercial opportunities, investment partnerships and ways to deepen economic ties between Canada and African markets.

The event’s organizers are encouraging businesses and individuals interested in participating to register their interest ahead of the conference. With the gathering scheduled immediately before the Investing in African Mining Indaba, Windhoek is expected to become an important meeting point for Canadian companies seeking opportunities in Namibia and across the wider African market.
