1. Unknown gunmen, on Wednesday, attacked former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in his home town. Three policemen attached to him were reportedly shot dead during the attack.

2. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, yesterday, expressed bitterness over the murder of over 16 villagers in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State by Fulani herdsmen. In a statement issued by its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, OYC issued a 14-day ultimatum to security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

3. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), on Wednesday, named a Ghanaian professor, Ato Essuman as its 20th chairman. A statement by the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr Abiodun Adukoju, noted that Essuman takes over from Mr Baboucarr Bouy from the Gambia for three years.

4. The Office of Communications in the United Kingdom better known as Ofcom, yesterday, sanctioned religious channel, Loveworld, owned by Nigerian Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome. Ofcom said in a statement that the station was fined £125,000 (N65.6m) for breaching the country’s broadcasting code by disseminating misinformation on COVID-19.

5. The Federal Government, on Wednesday, held a meeting with members of the Nigerian Association of Residents Doctors to avert their planned strike. The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, who disclosed this, said the Federal Government and the resident doctors were working closely with regards to the demands of the doctors.

6. Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, on Wednesday, ordered a dusk to dawn curfew in the Effium community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state to avert further killings and destruction of properties in the area.

7. Bandits, yesterday, killed about eight persons and injured four in fresh attacks in Chikun, Giwa and Kajuru local government areas of Kaduna State. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan made the confirmation in a statement on Wednesday.

8. Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, yesterday, commended his men for curtailing the activities of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-East. Amao spoke when he addressed men and officers of the Air Force at the Ground Training Command, Enugu, during his maiden visit.

9. The United States (U.S.) Department of States has said there is no verifiable evidence on the reported killings of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate on October 20, last year. It stated this in a report entitled: ‘2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Nigeria.’

10. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported 129 fresh cases of COVID -19 in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The report shows that the total number of confirmed infections in the country so far has risen to 162,891.
