With the support of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and under the technical coordination of Dreams Hub, the official launch of the Acceleration Project for the Development of Environmental Technologies and Innovations Led by Women and Youth in the Congo Basin was held this afternoon at the Youth Center in Malabo (United Nations Building).

This initiative seeks to foster environmental and technological innovation led by women and young people, in response to shared challenges in sustainability, climate change, and energy transition across the region. The launch ceremony brought together institutional stakeholders, youth representatives, environmental experts, and civil society organizations, creating a space for dialogue and opportunity sharing. During the event, the official call for proposals was presented—open to eco-innovative projects with the potential for local and regional impact.

OIF and Dreams Hub open new green opportunities for youth and women in Equatorial Guinea

In his opening remarks, Óscar A. Nchaso, Director General of Dreams Hub, emphasized the importance of building environments that nurture green innovation through an inclusive approach. “This initiative is not only about identifying ideas but also about creating an ecosystem where women and young people can turn their environmental commitment into sustainable solutions—with technical support and real opportunities for growth. We are convinced that the green future of our region is being built from the ground up, driven by young talent and transformative vision,” he stated.

One of the event’s highlights was the youth testimonies panel, featuring four young professionals with experience in key sustainability sectors such as recycling, sustainable fishing, forest conservation, and renewable energy. The panelists shared their journeys, reflections, and proposals, highlighting the active role of new generations in driving ecological transformation.

Moderated by communicator Honorina Botau Losoha, the panel provided a platform for discussing local solutions, structural challenges, and emerging opportunities for youth and women leadership in the green transition. The event concluded with the official opening of the call for proposals, which will remain open for several weeks through the project’s digital platform. This phase marks a critical step in identifying and supporting innovative projects with a green, inclusive, and community-centered approach.

The program aims to become a key space for collaboration, mutual learning, and the development of sustainable solutions through the talent and commitment of women and youth across the Congo Basin region.
