A new Pan-African movement launched in Kenya is seeking to turn Africa’s vast human potential into greater economic participation by connecting people with opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, education, technology and innovation.
WezeshaAfricaKE was launched with a central belief that talent and potential exist across the continent, but access to opportunity remains uneven. The initiative aims to bring together businesses, governments, innovators, educators, investors, civil society organizations and communities to identify and remove barriers that prevent people from participating fully in society and the economy.
Founded by Lillian Adero Agola, WezeshaAfricaKE places inclusion and economic participation at the heart of its mission. The movement argues that people should have opportunities to learn, work, establish businesses, contribute to their communities and build independent lives regardless of the circumstances in which they begin.

“WezeshaAfricaKE was born from a simple conviction that no one should be defined by their circumstances,” Agola said, describing the initiative as a call to recognize Africa’s people as one of the continent’s most important resources.
The organization is particularly focused on barriers affecting access to education, employment, finance, technology and infrastructure. It says addressing these gaps can benefit not only individuals and families but also businesses, communities and national economies.
Disability inclusion is one of the areas highlighted by the movement. Globally, more than 1.3 billion people live with a disability, according to figures cited by WezeshaAfricaKE. Research has estimated that excluding people with disabilities from employment can result in economic losses through reduced labor participation and productivity.
In Kenya, disability exclusion has been estimated to cost the economy as much as 6.95 percent of GDP annually, according to figures cited by the initiative.
For WezeshaAfricaKE, the economic case for inclusion is closely connected to its social mission. The movement says expanding participation can create employment, support entrepreneurship, encourage innovation, strengthen communities and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
“The greatest opportunity before Africa is not simply creating new industries; it is ensuring that every person has the opportunity to contribute to them,” Agola said.
The movement is pursuing practical opportunities in several areas, including employment access, entrepreneurship, financial independence, education, technology and inclusive innovation. It also aims to support stronger families and communities while promoting greater participation by people who have historically faced barriers to economic activity.
WezeshaAfricaKE is inviting a broad range of stakeholders to participate, including businesses and employers, entrepreneurs, governments and policymakers, investors and financial institutions, schools and universities, technology companies, development organizations, community groups, media organizations, youth leaders and volunteers.
The initiative’s approach is built around collaboration across sectors. Businesses can create more inclusive workplaces and employment opportunities, educational institutions can expand access to learning, financial institutions can support entrepreneurs, while governments and policymakers can help address structural barriers.
Technology is also expected to play an important role in connecting people with opportunities, particularly as digital tools expand access to education, markets, employment and entrepreneurship across African countries.
The movement argues that inclusion should be viewed not only through a social lens but also as an economic opportunity. When more people can participate in productive activity, businesses gain access to wider talent pools, entrepreneurs can enter markets and communities can benefit from increased household incomes and economic activity.
WezeshaAfricaKE is now seeking partners, advocates, volunteers and employers of opportunity to join its growing network. Its wider ambition is to build connections between people and institutions that can transform untapped potential into measurable opportunities.
