Africa is once again showing the world that it is a continent of solutions, resilience, and visionary leadership. In recognition of this, African Peace Magazine UK, in collaboration with leading partners such as Rethink Africa Foundation, African Fact Checkers, Centre for Peace and Conflict Management in Africa, and African Right Watch Television Ltd, will host the 15th edition of the African Peace Awards in 2025, under the theme “The Magic of Peace.”
This hybrid event—set to take place in London—has become one of the most significant gatherings on the continent’s peace and diplomacy calendar. It will bring together African Heads of State, grassroots peacebuilders, business leaders, and global policymakers working to shape a new narrative of unity, governance, and human dignity. On behalf of Justice Suleiman Galadima, JSC, OFR, CFR, Chair of the Award Committee, African Peace Magazine UK extends an open invitation to leaders, institutions, and citizens committed to building a more peaceful and prosperous Africa.

Since its inception in 2009, the African Peace Awards have celebrated outstanding individuals and institutions whose work has made a lasting impact on conflict resolution, diplomacy, and nation-building across the continent. Recipients are honoured not only for past achievements but also for their ongoing efforts in creating a stable and inclusive African future. The 2025 ceremony will feature a high-level conference and a formal gala dinner, where honourees will be awarded medals, certificates, and monetary prizes in recognition of their service to peace. Recipients will also deliver keynote speeches reflecting on Africa’s role in global peace initiatives.
A special distinction—the Culture of Peace Award—will also be presented to individuals and organisations who have significantly advanced the values of peace, tolerance, and cooperation across borders. “Africa is not a continent of conflict—it is a continent under construction. Peace is not the exception; it is our shared legacy. These awards are a testament to that truth,” said the organising committee.
For over 15 years, African Peace Magazine UK has been a leading voice in promoting peace journalism, economic empowerment, and intra-African cooperation. The publication continues to drive a narrative of hope, integrity, and agency, challenging outdated perceptions and highlighting Africa’s strategic contributions to global peace and development.
The African Peace Awards are more than a celebration—they are a declaration that Africa leads in peacebuilding, not from the sidelines, but from the centre. Past laureates have included former and current presidents, first ladies, peace negotiators, diplomats, and civic innovators whose actions have transformed lives. As Africa navigates complex global challenges, these awards reinforce the message that peace is not only achievable—it is already being built every day by Africans themselves.
