Bata, Equatorial Guinea – September 2, 2024

Dreams Hub, a leading center for technology, entrepreneurship, research, and innovation, is excited to announce its collaboration with the Bata Blood Bank to host the inaugural “Kilometers of Life” Solidarity Run. This significant event, scheduled for October 6, 2024, in Bata, aims to unite the community in support of a vital cause: blood donation.

A Run for Life: The Importance of the Event

The “Kilometers of Life” Solidarity Run is more than just a race—it’s a movement to save lives. In a city where blood donations can mean the difference between life and death, this event seeks to raise awareness and encourage widespread participation in donating blood. Dreams Hub, along with its partners, is committed to supporting the Bata Blood Bank’s mission to ensure that no one in need of a blood transfusion goes without.

Oscar Nchaso, founder and Executive Director of Dreams Hub, (AfriLabs member) highlighted the importance of this initiative: “As #EcosystemBuilders recognized in the prestigious ASEB awards, our mission is to foster innovation and community-driven solutions. Partnering with the Bata Blood Bank for this event aligns perfectly with our vision of building the next generation of dreamers and doers—because innovation isn’t just about technology; it’s about creating sustainable, life-saving solutions for our community.”

Event Details and Participation

The run will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on October 6, 2024, starting from Unity Organization Street near the General Hospital of Bata and ending at Lumu Matindi Street in front of the main office of Martínez Hermanos. Participants will run a 4 km route along the scenic Paseo Marítimo, showcasing not just their commitment to health and fitness, but to a cause that has the power to save lives.

  • Registration Dates: September 1 – October 5, 2024
  • Bib Collection: September 26 – October 6 at the Bata Blood Bank (Unity Organization Street)
  • Start Time: 9:00 a.m.
  • Awards Ceremony: 12:00 p.m.

Registration is free, and participants can easily sign up through the following link: Sign Up for the “Kilometers of Life” Run. With an expected turnout of 1,000 runners, the event is set to be a major milestone in promoting community health and awareness in Bata.

Ensuring Safety and Security

The race will be well-marked with official signs and barriers, thanks to the support of the Bata City Council. Security and medical teams from the Regional Hospital and Bata Blood Bank will be on-site to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all participants.
