Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday 12 May, announced that the confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have risen to 11 350.
Mkhize did not announce an updated death toll on Tuesday which means that for now, the death toll remains at 206.
A total of 369 697 tests have been conducted to date with 13 630 tests done in the last 24 hours. Mkhize announced that there had been 4 357 recoveries thus far.
LATEST COVID-19 CASES BY PROVINCE AS OF TUESDAY 12 MAY
The following confirmed COVID-19 cases have been detected in each province as of Tuesday:
- Gauteng – 2 014 cases;
- Western Cape – 6 105 cases;
- KwaZulu-Natal – 1 394 cases;
- Free State – 135 cases;
- Eastern Cape – 1 504 COVID-19 cases;
- Limpopo – 54 cases;
- Mpumalanga – 63 cases;
- North West – 51 cases;
- Northern Cape – 30 cases; and
- Unknown – 0 cases.
This comes to a total of 11 350 confirmed cases.
The Western Cape is still the COVID-19 epicentre with the most positive cases in the country.
