1.-Magufuli promises heaven on earth for Dar city

CCM presidential candidate John Magufuli yesterday made promises to change Dar es Salaam City as he marketed the ruling party’s candidates in the first day of campaigning in the commercial capital. Ranging from transport infrastructure to health. And sanitation projects. Dr Magufuli said he will make sure the city changes by improving the facilities, finishing ongoing project and many more.

 

2.-TTB signs pact with media and airline companies

The Tanzania Tourism Board ( TTB), has entered into a partnership with cloud media group and Pecision Air to promote  domestic tourism. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed was signed on Friday October 9th.

In the MoU, the Clouds media for 36 weeks through their programs will promote domestic tourism which will encourage Tanzanians to travel from one region to another and see for themselves the attractions available

 

3.-Why rights activists want death penalty abolished

Human right activist in Tanzania have called on the next legislative to make abolishment of the death penalty its top agenda.

The activist made the call under the umbrella of the world coalition against the death penalty yesterday.

The group says, more than 500 prisoners are on death row and that number is growing

 

4.-French embassy to hold conference on agro ecology

The French embassy in Tanzania, is expected to hold three conferences that will underline the opportunity for Tanzania to scale up agro ecology for increased productivity for achieving food, sovereignty, security and safety, poverty reduction, and enhancing the green and resilient economy.

 

5.-Bank of Tanzania clarifies order on cash withdrawals over the counter

The Bank of Tanzania (bot) yesterday clarified its directives on monitoring cash movement, stressing that the process aims at determining Tanzanian’s progress towards a cashless economy.

Last month, the central bank issued a circular asking banks and other financial institutions to submit daily report on over the counter cash withdrawers by customers starting September 7th 2020.

 

6.-Mugabe school highlighting challenges of today’s girl child

Tanzania joins the rest of the world to celebrate the international day of the girl child.

Mugabe secondary school students, highlight challenges they experience during their monthly cycle.

The day of the girl child is celebrated every year, with this years’ theme being “my voice, our equal future”.

 

7.-China upbeat on smooth elections in Tanzania

China’s Ambassador to Tanzania  Wang Ke says Tanzania has a rich history of holding peaceful elections, something that creates the belief that the coming polls would also follow the same trend as in previous years. She expressed her  satisfaction with the on going elections campaign stressing her country also upholds the noninterference policy with Local affairs.

 

8.-Tanzania’s economy to grow by 5.5 percent in 2020, says BOT

The team, which is part of the Bank of Tanzania’s  (BoT) board, exuded confidence that the BoT’s accommodative monetary policy was being implemented in such a manner that key macroeconomic indicators remained positive despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the global economy.

 

9.-Chadema seeks answers from NEC, Police

Chadema on Saturday demanded answers from the  National Electorate  commission ( NEC)  and the police regarding seven issues linked to October 28 General Election. The electoral body is also required to respond to the development of the party’s complaints filed against CCM presidential candidate John Magufuli and provide copies of Results Declaration Forms to political parties.

 

10.-NMB Bank UnionPay cards to attract tourists from Asia

The NMB Bank Plc has partnered with UnionPay International (UPI) in a landmark development that is designed and intended to see to the bank’s ATMs and Point-of-Sale (PoS) machines accepting UPI’s

Zanzibar’s Minister for Information, Tourism and Heritage, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo and top officials from NMB Bank led by the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Ruth Zaipuna displayed the new logo for NMB Pay.

The move, which was officially launched here yesterday, will see the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) listed bank playing an increasingly important role in leveraging the government’s tourists’ attraction endeavors.
