In a year defined by economic turbulence and declining global venture capital, AfriLabs defied the odds — expanding its network to a record-breaking 514 innovation hubs across 53 African countries. The newly released 2024 AfriLabs Impact Report paints a powerful, data-rich portrait of a continent shaping its own digital future.

From AI and climate tech to gender inclusion and digital skills, AfriLabs’ initiatives directly reached over 280,000 startups, entrepreneurs, and youth, empowering them to tackle some of Africa’s most urgent challenges — while laying the foundations for what could become a $1 trillion digital economy.

More than just a report, this is a blueprint for Africa’s technological rise.

Key programs like RevUp Women, Talent4Startups, UNFPA innovation partnerships, and Greenovations Africa provided funding, mentorship, and capacity-building support to thousands of startups and SMEs, accelerating sustainable development and economic inclusion across the continent.

On the global stage, AfriLabs raised Africa’s innovation voice at world-leading forums including UNGA79, VivaTech, GITEX, and the Global DPI Summit, advancing discourse on AI ethics, inclusive policy, and empowerment of youth and women.

Strategic partnerships with institutions like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Digital Africa, Intel, Meta, and the Mastercard Foundation further powered the rollout of initiatives like AfriLabs Connect — now linking over 7,000 ecosystem stakeholders — and Amari, an AI-powered learning assistant revolutionizing digital education in Africa.

“Africa’s brightest minds are not just participating in global innovation — they are leading it,” said AfriLabs Executive Director, Anna Ekeledo. “This report is both a celebration of progress and a call to action — for partners, investors, and policymakers to help co-create a future where no innovator is left behind.”

Looking ahead to 2025, AfriLabs sets its sights on a bold Moonshot Goal: unlocking $1 billion in digital investment, championing inclusive AI, scaling policy advocacy, and building future-ready innovation infrastructure.

With momentum and mission, AfriLabs continues to bridge opportunity gaps — and shape Africa’s innovation century.
