Terra Industries has partnered with Miva Open University to establish integrated robotics and drone laboratories across the university’s learning centres, beginning with a pilot facility in Abuja. The initiative is designed to give students practical experience in robotics, drone engineering and emerging technologies while strengthening technology-focused education through hands-on learning.

Under the partnership, students will participate in designing, assembling, testing and operating drones as part of their academic programmes. The laboratories aim to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom instruction and real-world engineering practice by integrating practical training into the university’s curriculum.
In addition to supporting student learning, Terra Industries will organize practical workshops, provide specialized training for university faculty members and create pathways for internships and employment. Outstanding students will have the opportunity to secure internship placements and potential full-time positions with the company.
The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to developing a highly skilled engineering workforce capable of supporting Africa’s growing technology and industrial sectors. By combining academic learning with practical experience, the initiative seeks to prepare graduates with the technical skills required for careers in robotics, drone technology and advanced engineering.
The pilot laboratory in Abuja is expected to serve as the foundation for expanding robotics and drone training to additional Miva Open University learning centres in the future, supporting innovation and strengthening STEM education across the region.
