Development project management in Egypt enters a new era of unprecedented modernization with the deployment of RASME—a digital platform designed to monitor, supervise, and evaluate development initiatives in real time. The tool enables field teams to collect geo-tagged and audiovisual data directly from project sites, facilitating immediate response to deviations, improving resource allocation, and ensuring that every investment delivers tangible impact. In an environment where efficiency and transparency are critical, RASME strengthens data-driven decision-making and significantly enhances accountability.

Developed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with the World Bank Group and the Geo-Enabling for Monitoring and Supervision (GEMS) initiative, RASME is part of the AfDB’s broader push for deeper digital transformation. The platform currently supports 673 projects across 36 African countries, with 318 active projects, over 1,796 trained users, and more than 55,000 field reports submitted. Its launch in Egypt marks a decisive step toward maximizing the economic impact of development funding.

With an active portfolio of 27 operations valued at $1.93 billion, Egypt aims to improve outcomes in key sectors such as transport, energy, water, agriculture, and social development. “RASME represents a technological leap in development work, enabling the collection of comprehensive, real-time data directly from project sites,” said Abdourahmane Diaw, World Bank Group Manager in Egypt.

The launch event also marked the beginning of an intensive four-day training for more than 50 officials. Doaa Oraby from the Ministry of Planning welcomed the initiative, highlighting that Egypt embraces RASME as a tool that will strengthen transparency and efficiency across all AfDB-funded projects.

A founding member of the African Development Bank, Egypt has received more than $8.1 billion since 1974 for the implementation of 174 projects. Through RASME, the country is not only enhancing its institutional capacities but also laying the foundation for more sustainable, inclusive, and measurable economic development—aligned with its national vision for smart and responsible growth.
