It was a day filled with excitement in the air as the new American Space in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, was officially launched and opened to the public. Now located within the newly renovated Afrilabs member, Dreams Hub Research and Innovation Center, Malabo, the United States of America Charge D’affaires, Christopher Lamora, was present for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Mayor of the Urban District 2 of Ela Nguema, Malabo, Roger Job Engono, was also present at the launch ceremony and expressed his appreciation to Dreams Hub and the United States Embassy for launching the American Space.
The American Space will welcome individuals and groups who want to learn English, get immersed into some American culture and conversations about societal topics ranging from entrepreneurship to civic participation. It will also serve as a resource center for information and programs highlighting American culture, history and current events. Seminars, exhibitions, and meetings with focus on a wide range of topics will also be held there.

Christopher Lamora in his speech welcomed everyone for coming to grace the historic event and gave commendations to Dreams Hub Research and Innovation Center for the role it is playing in the ecosystem and encouraged the organization to continue its good work.He also spoke of the good the American Space will do and growth that comes with it.
Oscar A. Nchaso Bekari, Founder and Managing Director of Dreams Hub who was on hand to welcome the Charge D’affaires, Christopher Lamora, welcomed the guests and thanked them all for coming out to celebrate the day with Dreams Hub and the Embassy of the United States of America.
‘’This is a wonderful opportunity for us and the communities we serve. As we continue to grow and establish relationships to support our aims and objectives, we believe a partnership of this magnitude takes us closer to realizing our dreams,’’ said Oscar.
On how this could impact the community and ecosystem, Oscar added, ‘’partnerships like this further highlight the growth that we are experiencing, showing people that we are putting in the work and encouraging our efforts. With this partnership, we are going to expand our activities at the hub and existing services for human capital development,’’ he concluded.
Dreams Hub Research and Innovation Center thanks the Embassy of the United States of America, especially its Public Affairs department for its support in the successful launch of the American Space.
As the event ended, a young Equatorial Guinean, Sabina, performed an immaculate rendition of the evergreen son, Amazing Grace, much to the delight of everyone present, receiving a standing ovation as she finished.
