Ivory Coast has taken a significant step towards digital transformation with the official launch of the Electronic Administration Support Project (PARAE), a key initiative in the effort to modernize public administration and establish itself as a digital leader in West Africa. The event, held on March 13 at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan, was presided over by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, who also took the opportunity to present the National Strategies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Governance, reaffirming the country’s commitment to a cutting-edge digital future.

The PARAE project, part of the National Digital Development Strategy (2021-2025), aims to modernize public services through digitalization, improve the interoperability of government systems, and strengthen cybersecurity. It also includes the creation of an eco-friendly government data center, underscoring Ivory Coast’s intention to advance sustainably in adopting new technologies. This ambitious project has an investment of $80 million and reflects President Alassane Ouattara’s vision to double the contribution of the digital sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2030.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Mambé highlighted the importance of digitalization for all sectors of society, stating, “We are building an Ivory Coast in which technology elevates all sectors and all citizens.” The Minister of Digital Transition and Digitalization, Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, also emphasized the need to adopt technology solutions tailored to the country’s realities to continue driving economic and social growt.

Additionally, the launch of PARAE is connected to other local initiatives such as the Ivory Coast Innovation Fund (FII), created in 2016 to support startups, particularly those led by young people and women. With a predominantly young population, Ivory Coast is strategically positioning itself as a regional technology hub, with an inclusive focus that promotes equity and economic development.
