Ndaba Mandela – Madiba’s grandson – confirms he has coronavirus

Ndaba Mandela – who revealed he was diagnosed with coronavirus this week – is certainly a little more flamboyant than his famous grandfather. Although he’s in the third-generation of Madiba’s legacy, that charitable spirit and flair for activism is still present in the young man – he does a lot of work for community groups both in South Africa and the United States.

Who is Ndaba Mandela? Nelson’s grandson confirms coronavirus diagnosis

But his actual announcement to the world that he has COVID-19 was a little odd. In a series of videos posted to his Instagram, Ndaba Mandela tells his followers that he contracted “the rona” recently. His address includes rants about mind-altering drugs, and the benefits of eucalyptus plants. His announcement was certainly less…

“I have ‘the rona’ y’all, the rona! Can you believe that? I’m going to eat healthy and look after myself. I don’t feel like I am showing any symptoms, but I am now in quarantine for the next two weeks.”

“This a serious situation that I don’t take lightly for a second. And stressing won’t make a difference. Let’s not panic, let’s wash our hands consistently and lay off the alcohol – it weakens the immune system. Be vigilant, we are all soldiers and we can all get through this with love and respect”

Ndaba Mandela

Fighting “the rona”

He may possess the same raspy tones as his grandfather, but our guy has picked up an American in there too. We’re hoping that he makes a speedy recovery, and continues honouring the legacy of his iconic family figure on either side of the Atlantic. Get well soon, Ndaba.
