1. The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has disclosed the real reason for the ongoing protest by Nigerian youths.

Enenche attributed the ongoing protest by Nigerian youths to the loud impunity, nepotism, tribalism, oppression and subjugation across Nigeria.

2. Abia State Government has warned opposition politicians in the state to steer clear of the ongoing peaceful protests by Nigerian youths under the auspices of End SARS to avoid needless violence or loss of life, as such could be hijacked by hoodlums to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.

The State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, who issued the warning while addressing newsmen in Umuahia during the weekend, assured that the State Government was fully in support of young Nigerians expressing their views through peaceful protests.

He added that “Abia State Government has uncovered plots hatched by a certain politician in the state to hijack the peaceful agitation of #EndSARS protesters and turn it into a political tool to attempt to get what he couldn’t get using the constitutional means that the ballot box is”.

3. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 113 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The NCDC in a tweet via its Twitter account on Saturday night said a total of 14 States recorded new infections in the country in the last 24 hours.

4. Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and a social commentator, has warned against any plan by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai to crush End SARS protesters with military force.

The former Minister of Aviation warned that it would be disastrous to kill the protesting youth the same way members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, were killed.

5. Property worth millions of naira was destroyed by inferno which hit two buildings around the Post Office in Osogbo, Osun State.

It was gathered that the inferno started around 6:30 pm on Saturday.

6. Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Saturday visited the three offices of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu.

The governor during the visit granted bail unconditionally to three detainees illegally held by the defunct unit.

7. The Nigeria Police have sanctioned 37 former members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The Police Service Commission (PSC) is expected to order the prosecution of 24 other ex-SARS operatives for various acts of misconduct.

8. The Nigerian Army will commence its military exercise, Operation Crocodile Smile nationwide on October 20, 2020, in the midst of the ongoing nationwide protests.

In a press statement on Saturday, the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, said the annual exercise will hold this year from October 20 to December 31.

9. Suspected thugs attacked Governor Gboyega Oyetola while he was addressing protesters in Osogbo on Saturday.

It was gathered that Oyetola had walked along with some End SARS protesters from Oke-fia to join others at popular Olaiya junction.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has been given two weeks to withdraw the nomination of his aide, Lauretta Onochie, as a Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, or be prepared to defend it in court.

A senior lawyer and 2023 presidential hope, Olusegun Bamgbose, described the nomination as really unfortunate, adding that some so-called leaders had lost touch with the ideals of democracy and good governance.
