TotalEnergies Equatorial Guinea to hold a press conference to announce the launch of its StartupperChallenge

With the slogan - "Ideas need energy to grow!” - This year, the contest adds a new category, "best female entrepreneur", with the objective of especially promoting female entrepreneurship.

Beyond the entrepreneurial spirit, this third edition of the StartupperChallenge reaffirms TotalEnergies’ desire to support the socio-economic development of the countries where the Company is established in Africa. Contributing locally to the strengthening of the social fabric, through the support provided to the most innovative entrepreneurs, in the realization of their project. The Dreams Hub research and innovation center, as a local partner, due to its experience and knowledge of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, will accompany TotalEnergies Marketing,Equatorial Guinea, during the Challenge, in the areas of applications, evaluating projects, and possibly the incubation of the eventual winners.

This year, Dreams Hub Research and Innovation Technology Center, a member of Afrilabs, the largest network organization of 320 innovation centers in 51 African countries, has been designated as local partners (Equatorial Guinea) to support the initiative.

For this edition, the TotalEnergiesStartupper of the Year Challenge will support and reward young entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years old.

A local jury made up of experts will select the winners in the following categories:

  • Best business creation project
  • Best startup less than three years old
  • Best female Entrepreneur

The winner of the “best femaleentrepreneur” award is a new addition to the 3rd edition, with the objective of promoting female entrepreneurship.

Each winner will become “TotalEnergiesStartupper of the year” and will benefit financially, get personalized support and a media campaign to give visibility to their project.

Projects will be evaluated according to three criteria:

  • Its response to the challenges of sustainable development;
  • Its innovative character;
  • Its viability and development potential.

This year´s Startupper Challenge is being held in 32 African countries and following the nomination of the three winners per country, an international jury will meet to select the three “Grand Winners” for the continent. Applicants will have until December 23, 2021 to complete their application.
