Our Woman In Focus this week is Clauda Borna, Managing Director and Chief Innovation at Seme City Development Agency.

She leads the development at @semecity , a knowledge and innovation hub located in Benin (West Africa) that brings together best-in-class academic institutions, research and development centres, as well as incubators of innovative solutions within a smart city environment. Through this one-of-a-kind initiative, they train a new generation of talents and foster a model of inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship based on Innovation made in Africa.

Prior to her role at Seme city, she held several top positions in major corporate groups such as Deloitte, Amazon, and Sony Pictures, which she left in 2014 after establishing a European department for innovation and strategic planning, and was the Senior Vice President for Global Customer and Worldwide Commercial Strategy.

She is drawn to the world of entrepreneurship and has made contributions to start-up projects globally before returning to Benin to use her expertise in innovation, incubation, and marketing for the service of the country’s development.
